Country Music fans remember Donna Ulisse from her time as a traditional country artist on Atlantic Records in the 1990's with national television appearances on "Hee Haw", NBC's "Hot Country Nights”, “Nashville Now", and "Crook and Chase". During that time she also released a critically acclaimed country album titled "Trouble at the Door" with three singles and two videos.

Bluegrass fans have been getting to know Ulisse for her songwriter-driven brand of bluegrass, often called "bluegrass without borders", after enthusiastically receiving her 2007 release "When I Look Back" as well as her early 2009 CD "Walk This Mountain Down", both produced by guitarist Keith Sewell and both self-penned collections of songs either all written or co-written by Ulisse. Both albums show that the time Ulisse took in between record deals to focus on songwriting has paid off in a big way, breathing life into a sound of her very own that is appealing to all lovers of acoustic music. “Walk This Mountain Down” was a Top 30 Americana record in spring of 2009 and she was the #1 artist on Sirius XM Satellite Radio's bluegrass channel 65 in June 2009 with “I Lied” being the #1 song on the same channel four times in 2009. The title track to her latest CD was in the Bluegrass Unlimited charts for six months in 2009 and her song “I’m Calling Heaven Down” also won best bluegrass song in the 2009 Just Plain Folks Awards. In 2010 she will be back in the studio working on two new projects of original material as well as beginning to tour more with her band The Poor Mountain Boys. She is also having success as a songwriter on other artist’s projects with a cut on the latest Claire Lynch CD and another song on the upcoming release by Darin & Brooke Aldridge.

Ulisse’s show offers the audience a unique insight into the stories behind many of the songs she has written as well as some top notch picking.
