With an award-winning bluegrass album that has achieved four #1’s to date, Pinecastle recording artists The Dixie Bee-Liners are creating quite a buzz. The critically acclaimed group, led by songsmiths Brandi Hart and Buddy Woodward, was named Roots Music Association’s Bluegrass Artist of the Year for 2008.

Known for their high-octane harmonies and stunningly beautiful original songs, The Dixie Bee-Liners’ brand of twang is quickly winning over fans of pop and country music, along with diehard lovers of traditional bluegrass.

The dulcet-throated Brandi Hart, a native of the Bluegrass State, grew up singing and playing music in Southern Baptist church choirs. Her thoughtfully penned originals – described by critics as “ethereal,” “gutsy,” and “epic” – cover a wide range, from hard-drivin’ bluesy scorchers to ancient-toned instrumentals, and earned her a featured slot on the 2006 ASCAP-IBMA Songwriter’s Showcase. A prolific songwriter, Brandi is currently at work on three distinct bluegrass concept records.

Bluegrass veteran and multi-instrumentalist Buddy Woodward is a founding member of seminal alt.country outfit The Ghost Rockets, and NYC honky-tonkers The Nitro Express. He also starred for two years in The Barter Theater’s hit production Man of Constant Sorrow: The Story of the Stanley Brothers and is noted for his work on the soundtrack of the film Freedom.

Fiddler Rachel Renee Johnson is a protégée of Becky Buller, and has played with The Stevens Family, The Boohers, Sapling Grove and III Generation. Jeremy Darrow Came back to his bluegrass roots after formal jazz studies, and has been seen recently with The Philadelphia Bluegrass Band and The Acoustic League of Justice.

Together, these accomplished musicians have performed and taught in hundreds of venues around the world. Their dynamic musicianship adds jaw-dropping grit, humor, and emotion to The Dixie Bee-Liners’ live performances.
